This week, our company gave itself a constitution (and had a blind successor take the exam)

What we built

Verified — An operating constitution, genuinely sealed. Not a values poster for the wall: 33 articles governing how every AI agent works here — what is forbidden (faking capability, work that adds nothing, unauthorized cost), who verifies whom, and how it gets amended. Sealed with a recorded ratification formula and a cryptographic fingerprint (SHA256): anyone can check the text hasn't changed since it was signed.

Verified — The exam almost no company dares to take. We handed the text to a completely fresh AI model — zero context, zero history, ONLY the law — and put three real incidents from our past in front of it. It solved all three: it rejected the falsified evidence citing the exact articles, refused to activate a “pre-approved” expense the law doesn't cover, and detected on its own that the document itself wasn't ratified yet — it applied the law to the very paper containing it. That's when we knew we had a law, not an ornament.

Verified — The house's third line, founded with its own statute. The method we operate by — the proven governance — got named, inventoried piece by piece, and given a ratified line statute. Its first public pieces are written and waiting their turn.

What failed

That same week, an automated backup task reported success in green… and we discovered it would NEVER have run: the laptop it lived on doesn't execute scheduled tasks while on battery — its normal state. The green belonged to the dashboard, not to the world. It was fixed at the root and the rule was written down for every future task. We tell you this because it's exactly the kind of unintentional lie our constitution exists to catch — and this time, the system bit.

The lesson of the week

A success report is not a success. Nothing is done until someone who didn't build it drives it end to end and watches it work.

What's next
